Resume (Position, Network/Production Company, Year, Location, & Description) - you can cut and paste your resume here
John Morrissey has had photos shown in group and solo shows throughout the US, acted on Broadway, written pop songs for Swedish rock bands, sold hand cream and Fuller Brushes door-to-door, been a Soap Opera “star” on two networks, worked in a car wash (he once crashed a brand new Cadillac on the washer line), designed a line of women’s clothes and produced Academy Award nominated films.

When John finally figured out that he wouldn’t become a movie star he started producing feature films and he is the producer of AMERICAN HISTORY X, a searing drama about racism and the American family which attracted many accolades and won a variety of awards, including a Best Actor Oscar nomination for star Edward Norton. This edgy tale of moral descent and redemption features performances by Norton, Edward Furlong, Beverly D’Angelo, Elliot Gould, Stacey Keach and Fairuza Balk.

John was trained at the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and worked extensively in regional theater throughout the US performing over 20 contemporary and Shakespearean roles. He made his Broadway debut in KINGDOMS with Armand Assante and he appeared in many off-Broadway hits, including STREAMERS and CLOUD 9, and then joined the daytime television series GENERAL HOSPITAL as the villainous “Stavros Cassadine.” Later, he was under contract for two years on rival soap GUIDING LIGHT, after which he joined the cast of CBS’ short-lived sit-com, EISENHOWER & LUTZ with Scott Bakula. While on that show, John began producing feature films and stumbled on some success.

His films include:
TEQUILA (Unax Ugalde, Daniella Schmidt), a Spanish language film scheduled for release in 2009.
HAVOC (Anne Hathaway) written by Oscar winner Stephen Gaghan, directed by 2-time Oscar winner director Barbara Kopple
11:14 (Hilary Swank, Rachel Leigh Cook, Patrick Swayze, Barbara Hershey
THE BADGE (Billy Bob Thornton, Patricia Arquette, Sela Ward)
WHAT'S THE WORST THAT CAN HAPPEN? (Martin Lawrence, Danny DeVito)
KINGDOM COME (Whoopi Goldberg, LL Cool J, Cedric, Jada Pinkett-Smith)
AMERICAN HISTORY X (Edward Norton, Edward Furlong)
BOOTY CALL (Jaime Foxx)
MIRACLE ON THE MOUNTAIN - CBS telefilm (William Devane, Patty Duke)
THE BACCHAE an experimental adaptation of Euripides’ tragedy
DR. JEKYLL & MS. HYDE (Sean Young, Tim Daly, Jeremy Piven)
THE TIE THAT BINDS (Keith Carradine, Darryl Hannah)
SENSATION (Eric Roberts, Kari Wuhrer)
DEEP DOWN (George Segal)
9 1/2 NINJAS

John’s work as a photographer has been exhibited in solo and group gallery shows throughout the US and has appeared in a variety of magazines and websites. In Los Angeles his solo exhibition “Move” featured 35mm film photography in double exposure, creating the sense of movement. Photos from his series on Cuba have been featured in three group shows and shots from his “What You See” series (“What You See When You Swim”, “What You See When You Kiss”, “What You See When You Make Love”) sell in galleries throughout Los Angeles. John also designs a women’s clothing line, JOHN MORRISSEY, which is sold internationally. John’s elegantly fitted jeans, jackets and skirts were created to move away from the slashed-up “premium” denim that dominated the marketplace in 2005. Once the 5 pocket jean was completed, other designs quickly followed: knit tops, skirts, dresses, boustier tops, vests, a tuxedo, a unique 4-zipper jean (called the Drive-In, they’re like tights - no fly, no pockets, just matching zippers on the hip and ankle) and what is probably John’s most admired design, the Signature jacket.
