Screenwriter's Therapy

Dear Ipers,Now that I have the STC method for outlining the scripts to make sure structure rules are followed, because, STRUCTURE IS KING. You can't get the structure correct, they aren't going to buy in to you as a serious script writer. So nail that first. Then I recommend the Screenwriter's U course on Professional Rewrite. The class is only a couple hundred dollars and it gives you about 16 steps to use to elevate your script from slush pile reject to creating A-list daydreams for the…See More

9 Months to Austin

Dear IPers,Sorry for the delay in writing. My bad. Someone, my dear hubby, gave me the complete Save the Cat series of books for Christmas and it revolutionized the way that I outline, plot and plan my scripts. Using the STC methodology, combined with everything that I learned from WBC (Writer's Boot Camp- great foundation to build on), and with a few Hal Croasman and Steve Kaplan classes, I have two scripts in one producer's hands already for MOW consideration. They definitely said it WAS NOT…See More

9 Months to Austin

Dear IPers,Just signed up for a Chris Soth mentorship project. We are taking the 8 Mini-Movie method and 8 writers are each writing one eighth of a script. Mild terror thriller genre until I tried to make it an x rated torture porn. They got me back on track; so one of today's chores is to rewrite my appointed 15 pages back into the appropriate genre. What was weird though, I didn't have a problem writing that stuff but I can't watch it at all. I've not seen one SAW. My nightmares are scary…See More

Martha (Stewart) Eat Your Heart Out

Dear Martha Stewart lovers or not,

I for one, wanted only two jobs in my life and they were both already taken. One is Mrs. Clause, that lucky girl. The other was Martha Stewart. Instead I just bang away at the day job dreaming of a way to get into the entertainment business. So I entertain with parties.

No, not your ordinary Martha Stewart parties, anybody can do that, just buy her magazine and follow along. I will admit that one of my faves is…

9 Months to Austin

Dear IPers,

Hope your Holiday season has started off with a bang. Usually I don't decorate until the day after Thanksgiving but the barn, where my office is located, went from Halloween directly to Christmas yesterday. I jumped the gun in the office to try to keep me motivated to get through the made for TV Premiere, hope it starts a series, Christmas MOW titled New Shoes for Elizabeth.

Once I made it through the draft of the two plotted Holocaust story on…

Motor City Ghost hunters, eh? Funnily enough I've done quite a lot of work with Iain Cash (MOST HAUNTED - which must be a similar TV show) and re-wrote a pilot and episode for his forthcoming TV show about such things....called LOW SPIRITS.
