Indie musician who wants to put music in films (help? tips?)

Hello everyone,

I'm a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist who writes a ton of music. I would love nothing more than to turn this ability into being a film composer or at least get some songs in films.

I am not sure if there is a demand in the types of music I can produce so maybe you guys can set me straight.

I specialize in music that can be defined as: Folk, Rock, Indie, Americana, Psychedelic, Psych-folk, Psych-rock, Guitar noises, moody instrumentation, Power pop, classic rock, blues, ambient, Garage, Punk, Quirky instrumentals, New Wave and more.

I'm Definitely not the classic piano or symphony composer but more of a Indie or art film type of guy.

Is this something I can do? ..and what's the best way to get started with no money?
